Shelly joined Rae Jereza and Zoe Samudzi for a panel discussion moderated by Scott Finnie on the following topic: Challenging White Supremacy, Settler Colonialism, and Dominant Narratives. This was an opportunity to reinforce to hate studies scholars that white supremacy is not simply an issue of individual hate or bigotry that is conscious and can be eradicated through education alone. Instead, the panelists collectively discussed the way white supremacy is baked into systems and cultural ways of being such that it implicates as complicit even those who consciously disavow white supremacy.
